HISTORY AND PURPOSE

     Die Künstler von Fredericksburg (the artists of Fredericksburg), or DK for short, is an all-volunteer nonprofit member artist group founded in 1993, its name honoring the City's German heritage.

     DK  seeks to

---promote appreciation of and public support for the visual arts in Fredericksburg and throughout the Texas Hill Country;

--- encourage local artists at every level of experience to continually develop their talents;

---support  Gillespie County school art programs;

---provide exhibiting opportunities for local artists.

   Interested in joining? New members are always welcome.

Meetings

     DK's regular monthly meetings, which are free and open to the public,  feature informal live demonstrations by  noted artists working in a variety of media, genres, and styles.

     At the meetings, members may also select DVDs to borrow  from DK's extensive lending library of art education materials.
    Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month from September through June, usually in the H-E-B Meeting room at the Hill Country University Center,  2818 E Hwy. 290  in Fredericksburg.
    Visitors are always welcome. Come join us!

Exhibitions and Showing Opportunities

 Throughout the year, DK offers its members a number of exhibition opportunities, including a year-round rotating display of members' original artwork at Fredericksburg Theater Company, a one-day Art Festival in March at Fredericksburg's Marktplatz where individual members may show their work, and the group's major event of the year: DK's annual Fine Art Show & Sale held on the second weekend in November.
